RAEC managers shall keep a consistent effort to formulate and review work procedures in order to achieve our target of zero accidents with no compromise on matters relating to safety. We believe that any job should not be done if it wasn’t safe enough.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Although ultimate responsibility for all Health & Safety matters rests with the General Manager, all of RAEC employees are responsible for the implementation of our H&S policy in their daily activities.     

 

REVIEW
The Manual may be modified from time to time in accordance with discussions during    regular safety meetings.  Updates will be issued as per the revision.
A primary concern of Rural Areas Electricity Company the personal safety and health of each employee. With Strong Health & Safety measures RAEC believes that all accidents are preventable. The prevention of occupationally induced injuries and illnesses has priority over all operating productivity. 

RAEC management is fully committed in achieving its policy objective and shall provide all necessary resources required to insure adequate safeguards and high H & S measures at workplace.

RAEC will comply and support the following documents in all aspects: RAEC Safety Rules (Electrical and Mechanical), RAEC Operation and Safety manual, the execution regulations on occupational H&S issued by ministry of Manpower Feb 2004. RAEC Code (RGC, ROC4, ROC5) Adherence to our policies is a top priority, not only for managers and supervisors, but also for each employee. 

Employees are required to take care of their own safety and of the others who might be affected by their acts or emission.

In order to achieve our objective, our Health & Safety program shall include, but not limited to the following:  

    • The occupational Health and Safety risks
    • An on going initiative to increase Safety awareness.
    • A method for communication, reporting and auditing on Safety records.
    • Monitoring and control through H & S inspections and audit to recognize and eliminate any unsafe work conditions.
    • Providing all required safeguard to the maximum extent possible and practical. Fully following stringent code of manufacturer’s recommendation with no deviation or short cuts.
    • Imparting training to all employees and strictly adhering to the statutory regulations.
    • Reporting of incident / Near misses without effecting reporter’s rights.
    • All Contractors working for Rural Areas Electricity Company must follow this policy.
